Benz Oil Company was founded by the Benz family back in 1980. Since then, we have become the area’s trusted provider of quality diesel, gas, propane, and lubricants for agricultural, industrial, and residential customers. We’ve also been a licensed HAZMAT carrier for 40 years—a certification we take seriously.

We value our customers. From the farmers and ranchers that have been with us for decades to the operators in the Bakken who trust us to keep their progress moving, every customer is important to us. That is why every person we employ understands the importance of the relationships we have built along the way.

In 1956, Bernard “Bernie” Benz was working as a salesman for Standard Oil Company. After 24 years working in this industry, he gained more than enough experience to own his own gas and oil business. He purchased Standard Oil Company in Killdeer, ND and two Amoco Stations in Arnegard and Watford City in 1980. This was the beginning of a bright and prosperous future for the Benz family and their customers.

The Amoco Stations in Arnegard and Watford City were operated as West River Petroleum Company until 1986 when they were sold. Then in 1994, after spending most of his career in the oil and gas service industry, Bernie retired, leaving company ownership and operations to his two sons: Mark and Scott.

The company has since been managed by Bernie’s son Mark, as well as Mark’s wife Dina; however, the Benz’s are not alone. They are surrounded by an outstanding team of employees dedicated to fulfilling their customer’s needs.

Benz Oil Company continues to fulfill the area’s agricultural, business, and home fuel needs. With a focus on service excellence, the company will continue to search for new and innovative ways to exceed customer expectations.
